Utah police take over probe into Grand Junction teen’s death

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Police in Utah are taking over the investigation into the death of an 18-year-old Grand Junction woman whose remains were found in western Colorado.

The West Valley City Police Department in Utah says social media accounts and other evidence show Kelly Mae Myers was staying at, and likely died in, a hotel in the city, a suburb of Salt Lake City.

Her remains were recovered Feb. 28 in Cactus Park, a recreation area south of Grand Junction on the Uncompahgre Plateau. Myers had been missing since December.

Her mother, Kim Lee, told KKCO-TV in Grand Junction in January that her daughter had been involved with drugs in the past and that there was a warrant for her arrest for failing to appear in court when she disappeared.
