Kids between the ages of 8 and 17 will vie for top honors at the 12th Annual Soap Box Derby on Lake Dillon Drive on Saturday, June 9.Be part of the “Greatest Amateur Racing Event in the World,” the All-American Soap Box Derby, by making a gravity-powered vehicle with your own bare hands.All that is needed is a good attitude and an initiative to learn. Registration is open through May 5 at or by calling (970) 468-6492. These resources will also help you get inside scoop on the race itself and hot tips on building a car. A special Dillon Soap Box Derby Race and Car Construction Clinic will be held at Dillon Town Hall on May 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The All-American Soap Box Derby is the premier youth and family oriented racing program in the United States and an official Youth Initiative of NASCAR. Established in 1933, it is an American tradition.
