Remember fallen officers with May 15 salute

SUMMIT COUNTY – A local police department chaplain hopes area residents will join in a national salute to law enforcement officers.

National Police Week runs through May 17. Thursday is Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, a day to honor the nation’s fallen police officers.

Russ Goodrum, pastor at Abundant Life Church in Silverthorne and chaplain for the Silverthorne Police Department, hopes other citizens will place blue ribbons on their car antennas or on the front doors of their homes in honor of police officers.

“This is one small way we can thank our local law enforcement personnel for their dedication and sacrifice,” Goodrum said. “If you happen to see officers in person, thank them for their service to the community.”
