Rescue group finds unidentified adult body in Reservoir

Summit Daily/Kristin Skvorc

Members of the Summit Rescue group located an unidentified adult body embedded in the ice of the Dillon Reservoir Wednesday afternoon, according to Summit County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Derek Woodman.

The body was found about 200 yards from where Patricia McCormick’s truck was located underwater last Thursday.

Authorities have not yet identified the person, Woodman said.

Rescuers have not decided how they will recover the body, but have discussed using water to melt the ice encasing the body, Woodman said.

Members of Summit County Search and Rescue have been searching the shoreline near where the truck was found since last week’s recovery mission. They could not see the body when they left the area Monday at 7:30 p.m., but the warmer weather thawed some of the ice on the reservoir’s surface, Woodman said.

Check back with for updates regarding the body.
