‘Resorting To Madness’ to play at Speakeasy Monday
At 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 5 at the Speakeasy Theatre in Breckenridge “Resorting To Madness: Taking Back Our Mountain Communities”, will play. The showing will be followed by a discussion on issues raised in the film. The discussion will include film producer Hunter Sykes and moderator Terese Keil. “Resorting to Madness” recently debuted at the Patagonia Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival. The film addresses the impacts of the modern ski resort industry on mountain communities and their environments.The film begins with a discussion of why we choose to live in mountain communities and what makes these places so special before addressing the environmental and social effects of the ski industry and uses two examples to illustrate how the industry operates, Vail resorts and The Village at Wolf Creek.Featuring interviews with industry experts and community activists throughout North America, the “Resorting to Madness” reveals the challenges ski resort communities face, while offering suggestions to protect and maintain the mountains, their communities and surrounding environments.For more information, contact Karn Stiegelmeier at (970) 468-9013
