Response from Kinderhut employee

I am writing in response to Roger McCarthy’s last few articles in the Summit Daily. Roger was quoted that Vail was not involved in the termination of the Kinderhut lease. He has not attempted to explain the threats to relocate the Beaver Run Chairlift if Vail didn’t get all the retail leases. It bothers me to read that Vail can’t help everyone in the county, but encourages employers to help provide childcare for their employees. May I remind you, that we live in a small town and there are only a few large corporations like Vail, which are able to provide daycare for its employees. I am lucky that I have been able to work for Kinderhut, which also helps its employees with childcare. Not only am I out of a job in a month, but also out of childcare opportunities. I love this community and want to continue to live here with my family, but to do so I need to work. It’s hard to find work if you don’t have more than a couple days of daycare. Since you claim to be the “leader for childcare in the community,” why won’t you help the entire community, not just your employees. Kinderhut staff has a great return employee rate with an average of 5-8 years. I feel that pushing out the hard workers to replace us with more transient staff that will live in the county for one to two ski seasons. Were your threats to Beaver Run just rumors or scare tactics that worked? Please share your response, with the community, regarding those rumors. Last, to Charles and Craig (Kinderhut): Thanks for your passion and for serving the entire community, not just your employees.
