Restore democracy to Silverthorne

Janet Carter

The Silverthorne mayoral runoff election is not about growth. Instead, it is about the future of representational government in Silverthorne.

The reigning mayor, Lou DelPiccolo, has an autocratic leadership style and believes he has the experience to decide what’s best for the town. In contrast, Sheila Groneman, the top mayoral vote-getter in the April 2 election, offers a return to representative government. She offers an open leadership style where the will of the people, as expressed in the town survey, for example, helps shape government. She will make decisions in the open, not behind closed doors. She will create a citizen-friendly atmosphere in the town council meetings. She wants to see the mayor and town manager working together again.

Representational government is what America is about. Let’s win it back in Silverthorne. Vote for Sheila Groneman on May 7.
