Reward boosted to $7,500 for bagging elk poacher

ESTES PARK – Two national groups are offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the culprit who illegally killed a bull elk in Estes Park.

The offer by The Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust is in addition to $5,000 being offered by state wildlife officials for information leading to the poacher’s arrest and conviction.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife says someone shot and wounded a bull elk with an arrow around Oct. 15 in Estes Park, where it was a popular sight with residents and visitors.

The elk was euthanized after it could no longer walk or eat.
