Summit County, CO Colorado

SILVERTHORNE ” Silverthorne town officials are inviting the business community to attend its annual breakfast on Wednesday in hopes of explaining the impacts Interstate 70 has on the town.

To do so, the town invited Russell George, executive director of the Colorado Department of Transportation to speak on the subject and answer questions from attendees. Silverthorne Town Manager Kevin Batchelder ” who calls I-70 a “river of revenue” ” said a main goal of the town is to get more visitors passing through Summit County to stop in Silverthorne, whether at the Factory Stores or more north toward Kremmling.

“We don’t want to do something where 20 people show up,” Batchelder said. “We really want to have the whole community to talk with the town … and start collaborating.”

Members of Silverthorne’s Economic Development Advisory Committee are looking for feedback as well at the breakfast.

The breakfast will also briefly highlight a summary of projects throughout the town, a report on 2006 town revenues and objectives for future projects.

Last year, 130 people showed up to the breakfast.
