Road work continues in Leadville

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

LEADVILLE – Work is progressing on the reconstruction of Highway 24 through Leadville. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor APC Southern Construction Company are working on curb ramps through the downtown area in preparation for asphalt milling and paving, scheduled to begin in mid-May and continue through June. CDOT expects to keep at least one lane of traffic open in each direction through the majority of paving operations. Construction involves highway widening north of town, the downtown curb ramp work that is underway, sidewalks north of town, milling and paving, and signing and striping. Construction impacts are limited to parking and pedestrian travel downtown. Business accesses are all open, but as work locations change throughout the project, parking and accesses will be altered. Traffic-control flaggers are present to assist the public.
