Robert Petrowsky: Gun control not the answer

Robert PetrowskyCandidate State House District 61

Re. by Ruth Hertzberg, letters July 29

As I and others pointed out, James Holmes had plenty of other things at his disposal to commit these murders with if he didn’t have access to the firearms. His apartment was rigged with explosives. He could have simply thrown one into the theater and killed everyone. Would we be talking about banning high capacity magazines and limiting sales to ammo then? What if he simply barred the doors to the theater and lit it on fire? I know lots of felons with no access to guns who have access to a gas can and a match. Why not just ban matches because they have a potential to be used in a crime? Banning tools that can be used in a crime doesn’t mean something else won’t replace them and certainly doesn’t mean people will be safer.
