On Thursday, Feb. 13, Rocky Mountain Skimo, in conjunction with Summit Skimo Club, will host its second Summit Skimo Series race of the season at Breckenridge Ski Resort.

With the first event taking place on Peak 8, the race on Thursday will move over to Peak 7 where participants can compete in either a short-, medium- or long-course races. The short-course race will be an ascent race with around 1,600 feet of climbing while the medium-course race will have two ascents and one descent with approximately 2,400 feet of climbing. The long-course race will have three ascents and two descents with around 3,200 feet of climbing.

Required gear to participate in the event includes a headlamp, helmet, skis, skins, poles, gloves, extra layers, backpack and a phone.

The event costs $30 to register prior to the event and $40 the day of the event. Athletes are asked to park in the Beaver Run Parking Lot. The race is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. with a hard cutoff taking place at 6:30 p.m.

An after party is scheduled for after the race, but a location has yet to be decided. The third and final Summit Skimo Series race will take on Peak 9 on March 13.
