Rodeos, ranch life and cowboys

Buena Vista Heritage, in celebration of the 84th annual Collegiate Peaks Rodeo and a special rodeo exhibit at the Heritage Museum, will present a talk on the subjects of rodeos, ranchlife and cowboys on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the courtroom at Buena Vista Heritage Museum, 506 East Main. The featured speaker is Bob McSpadden from Vinita, Okla. McSpadden is the chairperson of the 2005 Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo, which will be held in Claremore, Oklahoma, Aug. 23-27. It is one of the largest regional rodeos in Oklahoma. McSpadden is part of a fifth-generation Cherokee ranching family in northeastern Oklahoma and spent his youth in the Roger’s Homeplace, the birthplace of Will Rogers near Oolagah, Okla. Proceeds benefit BV Heritage. Tickets for McSpadden’s presentation, which include admission to the museum and model railroad, are $3 for adults, $1 for children 6-16, and free for members of Buena Vista Heritage and for children under 6.
