Summit Daily/Kristin AndersonTubbs Romp to Stomp 3K and 5K snowshoe participants set out Saturday from the Frisco Nordic Center's lodge and onto the course.

FRISCO ” Breast cancer got a good kick in the pants last Saturday, with the Tubbs Romp to Stomp snowshoe race and walk at the Frisco Nordic Center bringing in over $71,000 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.

Registered participants totaled 1,946, up 500 people from last year’s event. Money raised, which surpassed last year’s total of $63,000, is still coming in online and from race proceeds, event chairperson Joan Davids said.

“This event is always so uplifting,” Davids said. “Many participants wear ‘back signs’ with names of friends and family who have succumbed to or are survivors of breast cancer. That really brings home the message of why this event is important.”
