Rosie Raffa-Boren: Time for some upgrades at Breckenridge

I love the new chair 5 at Vail and I’m thrilled to hear about the new Rose’s bowl chair Beaver Creek wants to put in. I think the Peak 6 expansion at Breckenridge could be an asset also.

But don’t you think it is time to update the antiquated lifts at Breckenridge that access some of your most marketable terrain? Yes I am talking about 6 chair and the T-bar. There seems to be some nostalgic, hard-core thing tied to the T-bar, but not Chair 6. Often the lines are huge, weekends they are unapproachable. I have talked to many guests, from many different places who tell me they think it is silly for a resort that claims to be world class to have such old, slow lifts for access to their most advertised terrain. I personally would like to see them both upgraded.

To quote Don Dressler, the winter sport administrator for the U.S. Forest Service’s Eagle/Holy Cross Ranger District in the Summit Daily News: “When you reduce the lift time, not only are you improving the overall experience for the guest, but we think we’ll get better utilization of the existing terrain there and improve the skier circulation.”

With the great snow season Breckenridge has had, and the great revenues I know it has produced for Vail Resorts, don’t you think it is time to and give Breckenridge ski area a little love, too?

Long-time resort guest,
