Rotary announces winner of annual Corvette raffle

The winner of Summit County Rotary’s Fifth Annual Corvette raffle was announced at the Dillon Barbecue at the Summit on Aug. 13. Dareth Newley, a Silverthorne resident, is the proud owner of the classic red Corvette.According to Rotary Corvette Raffle chairperson Hal Hufford, raffle ticket sales raised more than $12,236 for local high school scholarships and other Rotary community programs. The 2,500 tickets were sold by Hufford and more than 25 Rotarians who stationed the car at Summit County events throughout the summer. Tickets were sold for $10 each or six for $50. Locals and visitors enjoyed taking a chance on winning the corvette that is purchased by the Rotary each year. Out of the five winners in the annual contests, three have been from Summit County.Summit County Rotary thanked its friends and neighbors for supporting the fundraiser that is one of many projects the organization sponsors to raise money for community needs.
