The Rotary Club of Summit County has announced the winners of its annual ice melt competition.  Each year, people donate $5 to guess the date and time — down to the second — that a barrel will fall through the ice into Dillon Reservoir at the end of winter.

The barrel dropped into the water at 5:36:40 p.m. on May 7. The winners are:

  1. Sandra Davis of Parshsall with a guess of 5:37:11 p.m.
  2. Stacy Melville of Dillon with a guess of 5:34:29 p.m.
  3. Candace Barnes of Pagosa Springs with a guess of 5:40:42 p.m.

Davis won $4,000, Melville received $2,000 and Barnes took home $1,000.
