Rotary Club thanks supporters of troop program

Elizabeth Wickert
Rotary Club of Summit County - Troop Support

The generosity of the wonderful people of Summit County is unbelievable, even during these difficult economic times.

Thank you so very much to all those who supported Rotary’s efforts to provide troops with ties to the county with a little Christmas cheer and fun. We much appreciated all the donations, large and small, which were received. X boxes were packed with non-perishable foods, toiletries, games, and stationery for those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. We wish we could be there when they open their packages and share them with their buddies. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. Financial donations were much appreciated, too. They will pay for the postage which is a huge expense in this exercise.

We are thankful for the promotion provided by the Summit Daily News and radio stations during the month of November, which helped to make the community aware of our cause, and made a significant contribution to our success. However, none of this would have been possible without the venues of City Market, Safeway and Walmart in which to collect the donations, and their great employees who were so supportive of this effort. Our gratitude to all concerned.

As a Summit Daily News reader, you make our work possible.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
