Rotary hosts Ice Ball of titanic proportions

Daily News staff report

Many Titanic characters including Molly Brown and Mr. Astor will be dancing and dining aboard Summit County Rotary’s second annual Ice Ball to be held at the Silverthorne Pavilion, March 12 from 6-11:30 p.m. The event features a silent auction, raffles, dinner and dancing. The Ice Ball will sell out, so purchase tickets now. The hors d’oeuvres and buffet dinner will be presented by Gilchrist Catering and the cash bar by Pavilion Beverages. Rotarian and well-known emcee Jay Bauer will be announcing and introducing the Ice Melt Princess Candidates. Following the princess presentations, there will be dancing and music by DJ Dave Nichols until close. Plan to wear period dress and participate in the unsinkable Molly Brown Impersonator parade. A prize will be awarded. Tickets are $40 per person. All proceeds benefit the Rotary Foundation and its many community projects. The Ice Ball is the kick-off for the sale of Ice Melt tickets, a Summit County tradition to guess when the ice will melt on Lake Dillon. Ice Melt tickets and Ice Ball tickets may be purchased from any Rotarian or by calling Judy at (970) 668-2416.
