Rotary Ice Melt Contest winners announced

Daily News staff report

The winners of the Rotary Club of Summit County annual Ice Melt Contest were announced Wednesday evening. The winners are:

1st Prize – $2,000 – Jim Doyle, Dillon – 1min 25sec off

2nd Prize – $750 – Katie Johnson, Silverthorne – 28min 25sec off

3rd Prize – $500 – Marjorie Biggs, Breckenridge – 33min 56sec off

Every year, the Rotary places a special clock on the ice atop Dillon Reservoir and sells raffle tickets allowing people to guess when the clock will go in when the ice melts. The person closest to the actual time wins the top prize. This year, the clock went in on Monday, with the official time being 13:13:26 May 23, 2011.
