Russell Sigler celebration of life Wednesday in Frisco

Special to the Daily

Russell Kent Sigler known to his friends as Siggy was born Sept. 21, 1947, in Fort Collins to Dr. R.K. Sigler and Virginia Sherwood. He joins his father, brother, Steve Kayne Sigler and stepbrother Patrick Gettings in death. He is survived by his mother Virginia; stepmother Dr. Kathie Sigler; and sister Judge Victoria Sigler.

Siggy graduated from South Juan High School in Carmichael, Calif. He first came to Breckenridge in 1972 and never remained away for long.

In his life he was a cook, musician, mechanic, engineer, prospector and tour guide before devoting 16 years to the Summit County Ambulance Service. He was a renaissance man full of knowledge and sharing, a mountain mentor and student of enlightenment. He loved animals and was a savior of kittens and people alike. He gave the community his life and will be sorely missed by loving friends and family who share memories of Siggy’s many rescues.

Let’s all join together to honor and celebrate Siggy’s life on Wednesday at the Summit County Community and Senior Center from 6-8 p.m. Food will be provided. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Summit County Animal Control Center and save a kitty’s life.
