Safe Summer Kick Off a success

Mark Hanschmidt - Silverthorne Police Department

I would like to thank the Silverthorne town staff and police department for all the hard work put in for the Safe Summer Kick Off.

This being our fourth year, everything went very well with no major problems. We gave away most of the 100 helmets, 100 bike locks, the free bikes went very fast and the three essay question winners were all grins when they got their new bikes.

The car seat installation area was very busy as well. The unofficial count of installs was 67. That is a lot of safe kids. The barbecue was wonderful with no food left over.

Each year this event gets bigger and bigger. When a team pulls together with a common goal, success is right around the corner. I heard many positive comments from people at the event. Thanks to all of you that spent time helping us, to be successful. I know we have made a difference in our community.
