Sandquist: Council picks for Silverthorne

Ann-Marie Sandquist
Silverthorne

I am writing this letter in support of the Alliance for Silverthorne candidates, Dave Anderson, Russ Camp, Stu Richardson, and our current mayor, Dave Koop. All four of these gentlemen exemplify involvement and care for their community. Their many years of active participation range from serving on previous councils, to planning commissioners both in Silverthorne and in the county, to chairmanship of our Economic Development Advisory Committee, to serving on multiple community boards. Their involvement and work in these various capacities have been instrumental in helping the town to continue to refine and accomplish its long range goals. In the last few years the town has updated its comprehensive plan, streamlined its land-use review process, reduced its parking and landscape requirements, maintained its commitment to finish the Blue River trail system (which includes the beautiful new Tammy Jamieson Memorial Bridge), purchased the Smith Ranch parcel and designated it for affordable housing, and has been able not only to maintain a balanced budget but pay off all its bonds early and is thus debt free.

All four of these men have been actively involved in Silverthorne’s evolution as a town. I support these candidates because of the commitment they have demonstrated, because they understand and support fiscal responsibility, and because of their continued willingness to seek out opinions and bring them forth, and mostly because of the very apparent care and concern that they have shown for our community.
