SDN not ‘fair and balanced’

Larry Sawyer, Frisco

The Summit Daily News is unfair to Republican candidates for public office. When a Democrat announces candidacy, the Summit Daily News provides them above the fold headlines. Mayor Daley Sr. said it best, “You can’t beat somebody with nobody,” and clearly the SDN is about making sure that every Democratic candidate gets maximum publicity so that they won’t be a nobody.Saturday’s SDN story “Mine reopen stokes Leadville” goes over the top being unfair to Republican candidates. While mentioning former State Senator Ken Chlouber as providing leadership and jobs to Leadville after the 1995 mine closing, the story fails to mention that Ken Chlouber is still providing our community leadership by being the Republican candidate for State House representing Summit, Eagle and Lake Counties. I can only surmise that SDN’s omission of Sen. Chlouber’s current Republican candidacy is just more of SDN’s blatant unfairness directed against Republican candidates. I hope and pray that you will clean up your act and give us fair and balanced coverage of the coming November election.
