Search continues for missing man thought to be near Officers Gulch

Summit County deputies searched for Sean Marquardt, a Vail resident, near Officers Gulch on Monday after finding his vehicle parked and unoccupied in the area. A larger search team, including county special operations, search and rescue, drones and detectives, continued the next day, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons wrote in an email to Summit Daily News that the search has continued in the Tenmile Canyon, but Marquardt has not been located. Anyone with information about his whereabouts since Friday, May 9, should call the Vail dispatch number at 970-479-2201.



In a Facebook post, Marquardt’s brother stated that nobody has heard from Marquardt since May 7, though his truck was seen on an Interstate 70 traffic camera on May 9. The post also shared that his phone and wallet were located in his condo.
