Search under way for schools superintendent

SUMMIT COUNTY – The consulting firm hired to conduct a nationwide search for a new schools superintendent is seeking input from the community as it develops screening and selection criteria for candidates.

The Summit County school board hired Ray and Associates Inc., of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to assist in its search for Schools Superintendent Wes Smith’s successor. In February, Smith announced his intent to retire in the next five to 10 months.

Ray and Associates has scheduled two days – April 14 and 15 – to gather input from the community regarding the qualities, attributes and experience they seek in the ideal candidate. The consulting firm will meet with the public, district support staff, teachers and administrators, PTA leadership, the leadership of the Summit County Education Association, the District Accountability Committee and the school board.

All citizens interested in helping Ray and Associates develop its search criteria are invited to attend. For further information, contact Karen Mack at the district’s central administration offices at (970) 668-3011.
