Seasons at the Highlands
With winter’s last breath here and spring almost upon us, this is a great time to consider a mountain home to enjoy for all the seasons. Thus, today’s feature is the home at 1883 Highlands Drive. Close to the Breckenridge Golf Course, this newly constructed four bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath home is offered at $1,825,000. This brings the price per square foot in at $383 for the 4,756 square feet of living space. Additionally, there is a sunny 1.18 acre lot, multiple decks and an oversized two-car garage included in the price.
The home sits up on a ridge, taking advantage of the sun and views. A gently sloping driveway winds up to the house. Stairs up the side of the house lead to a covered porch marked with massive stone columns and heavy wooden trusses. The front door opens into a large tiled foyer with coat closet. Straight ahead, the great room welcomes with a massive wood-burning moss rock fireplace as the centerpiece of the space. Floors here are wide-plank wood in a medium natural tone, and the cathedral ceiling highlights the heavy wooden beams. The opposite wall of windows and a door to the deck brings in the forest and mountaintops.
To the right, double doors open to the sunny east-facing master bedroom with double French doors out to a private deck. The bath features a separate shower with Euro-style glass doors, a jetted tub and separate sinks, one with a built-in vanity. A walk-in closet completes the suite.
To the left of the entrance is the kitchen which is set up as an additional living space. A built-in eating area is framed by windows, and a door leads out to the deck with plenty of room for a barbecue. Appliances include a Dacor microwave, convection oven, warming oven and five-burner cooktop, as well as a Sub Zero refrigerator and Bosch dishwasher. Countertops are granite slab in charcoal and silver which blends with the stainless appliances. A pantry adds additional storage.
Adjoining the kitchen is a den area with octagonal wooden ceiling and surrounding windows. The dining room is open to this wing of the home and features another moss rock fireplace. There is a built-in wet bar here, as well as a butler’s pantry and powder room which are located conveniently nearby. This part of the home is particularly unique and welcoming for gatherings.
Stairs up from the main level lead to a spacious loft area which could house a library, office or workout area. Stairs down lead into an open family area with a third fireplace and granite tile-topped wet bar. Glass doors open to the patio and the yard. To the right is a well-appointed mudroom with several large storage areas off of it, as well as built-in wooden cubbies and benches. This is convenient to the garage entrance. Additionally, the laundry is on this level as well.
Next is the second bedroom with an ensuite tiled bath. The third bedroom shares a full Jack-and-Jill bath with the family room. The fourth bedroom lies to the left of the family room and is actually part of a complete apartment with private exterior access. The comfortable living room here enjoys wooden floors, sunny windows and a stainless Frigidaire kitchen, as well as its own bath and entry area.
With chestnut garrison-style slatted doors and trim, a flowing thoughtful floorplan and a beautiful four-season Highlands location, this timeless home will be a gathering place for generations.
