Semi accident closes eastbound I-70 in Glenwood Canyon

A semi-driver lost control of his big rig in Glenwood Canyon, smashing through a retaining gate and hanging perilously over the edge, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

There were no immediate reports of serious injuries following the accident at about 6:30 p.m. about seven miles east of Glenwood Springs.

The eastbound lanes are closed. Delays are expected to last for hours as crews secure the truck and ensure no hazardous materials have spilled, according to CDOT.
