Semitrailer hits ski van carrying at least eight people
AURORA ” A semitrailer on Interstate 70 crashed into a van carrying seven passengers on a shuttle between Denver International Airport and a ski resort Thursday evening, critically injuring one person.
After being struck by the semitrailer, the van crashed into a car, injuring the two people inside, Aurora police Lt. Charles Holzheimer said in a statement.
One passenger in the van was in critical condition when transported to a hospital by helicopter, Holzheimer said. The other six passengers suffered injuries described as minor to moderate, while the two people in the car suffered non-critical injuries.
All eight were transported to hospitals.
The van was operated by East/West Resort of Vail.
The driver of the semitrailer, Christian Vandemyle of Ogden, Utah, was cited for careless driving resulting in serious bodily injury.
