Senior Winter Games return to Summit County from Feb. 9-11

From Feb. 9-11 Summit 50-plus will be hosting its annual Senior Winter Games at locations spread throughout Summit County.
This year’s event will feature Alpine, uphill, ice and Nordic events. Participants can compete in as many events as they want in their respective age category. As of Tuesday, Feb. 4, 75 people had registered for the games with individuals averaging almost three events each.
The three-day event will kick off with the Alpine events at Keystone on Sunday, Feb. 9, before the uphill and ice events take place at the same venue on Monday, Feb. 10. The winter games will conclude on Tuesday, Feb. 11, with the Nordic skiing events at the Frisco Nordic Center.
Following the final Nordic event, an awards ceremony and lunch will be served at the Summit County Community and Senior Center. Awards are scheduled to be announced at 1:30 p.m. with medals being given to the top three in each age category and each gender. Age categories include, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80-plus.
Individuals interested in competing in the event must be a member of Summit 50-plus to participate. To become a member for $20 a year, visit Summit50Plus.org/membership/. Once a member, the cost of the Senior Winter Games will be $35 with the awards ceremony lunch or $25 without the lunch.
Participants can register for as many events as they want once paying the registration fee.
