Services for Hampson are Friday in Golden

GOLDEN – Memorial services for Christopher P. Hampson of Breckenridge are scheduled for 11 a.m. June 6 at his father’s home at 21537 Mountfield Drive in Golden.

Hampson died May 31 while rock climbing in Yosemite National Park in California. The 25-year-old man, who friends say was a safe and experienced climber, was about 950 feet off the ground when he fell. His safety rope caught him after he’d fallen 150 feet, but Hampson died before rescuers could reach him two hours later.

He is survived by his parents, Carol and Allan, stepmother Susan Hampson, sister Kate and other relatives and many friends.

Hampson’s family believes his extraordinary spirit is now free and soars as an eagle.
