When Nora M. Funk turned 72, her husband, Rolf, bought her a snowmobile and a horse instead of the motorhome most folks her age often prefer.

But that’s the kind of woman she was, he said.

Funk, a 15-year Summit County resident, died April 26, 2004, at the couple’s home in Alpine, Wyo. She was 72.

Memorial services are set for 7 p.m. May 19 at the Dillon Community Church.

Funk was born Feb. 1, 1932, to Kristine and Marius Larsen of Plentywood, Mont.

She attended high school in Denmark and returned to the United States when she was 18, moving to Los Angeles.

She was married to Rolf Funk on June 21, 1958, at the Emanuel Danish Lutheran Church in Los Angeles. The couple later moved to Lake Tahoe, Nev., where they lived for 21 years.

The couple moved to Summit County in 1984 and relocated to Wyoming in 1999.

She enjoyed fishing, skiing, horseback riding, snowmobiling, camping and her yard and flowers.

Funk was a member of the Jackson Hole Christian Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Sven.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, son Carl Funk of Boise, Idaho, and daughter Lisa Stevenson of Kinburn, Ontario, Canada; sisters Eva Larsen of Denmark and Ester Showers of Las Vegas; six grandsons and a granddaughter.

Contributions can be sent to Craig Hospital Foundation, 3425 S. Clarkson St., Englewood, CO 80113.
