Services set for Jim Hooks, formerly of S’thorne

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. James Methodist Church in Central City for James “Jim” Hooks, formerly of Silverthorne, who died of lung cancer Feb. 27 at the age of 71.Hooks was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Salinas, Calif., and moved to Black Hawk in 1971. He worked as a drywaller for 43 years, including in Summit County from 1979 to 1996. He lived in Silverthorne from 1981 to 1992 before moving to Black Hawk.He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his grandchildren, was a member of the non-denominational The Rock at Church Ranch in Westminster and past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge No. 2561 in Silverthorne from 1985 to 1987.He is preceded in death by brothers Gerald, Darrell and his parents, Eunice and Noel.He is survived by his wife, Pat, of Black Hawk; son Jim Hooks of Kremmling; daughters Marilyn Gardner of Yuma, Ariz., Rhonda Moore of Phoenix, Ariz., Cindy Johnson of Black Hawk, Linda Hardy of Black Hawk and Joanne Wall of Arvada; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
