Seventh annual ‘Inspired by Assets’ Writing Contest topic announced

The Summit Prevention Alliance announces its seventh annual ‘Inspired by Assets’ Writing Contest. The contest theme for this year is “My Future is Bright Because…” Students’ are invited to participate in this asset building writing activity, and explain what their dreams are for the future or what they want to do when they grow up. The contest is open to students in grades K-5. All contest entries are due by Thursday, Feb. 22 by 3 p.m. Please submit entries to the front office of your school, or send to P.O. Box 2565, Frisco, CO 80443. Each category will have a gold and silver place winner. Gold place finishers will receive a $50 savings bond from Alpine Bank. Silver place finishers will receive a punch pass to Breckenridge Recreation Center or Silverthorne Recreation Center. Entries must be original works and unpublished at the time of submission. Entries should be word processed or typed, double-spaced, or neatly written for elementary grades and submitted on white paper and no longer than 1500 words. Writers must include a separate cover page including title, name, phone number, grade, school, and age. Please do not include personal information on the essay. Only one entry per person. Judges, sponsors, SPA employees, and their immediate family members are not eligible. Winners will be notified the week of March 12 and selected winning entries will be published in the Summit Daily News with winners’ photos.
