Summit Daily to host event focused on raising awareness for traumatic brain injuries

The annual Longevity Project kicks off Friday, Feb. 21, with the first part in a series of articles discussing traumatic brain injuries. The reporting series will touch on prevalence, mental health impacts, access to care and more.

The Longevity Project is a weekslong effort by the Summit Daily News to educate our readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in the High Country.

The four-part series will be published on Fridays starting on Feb. 21 followed by an event on Tuesday, March 18, at the Silverthorne Pavilion, 400 Blue River Parkway, from 5:30-8 p.m.

The event features athlete and coach Stephanie Zavilla, who will share her personal experience of a traumatic brain injury. The impact of the injury left her navigating post-concussion syndrome and a lifelong seizure disorder. The injury inspired her to educate and support families and athletes, which she does through her role at the Winter Park Competition Center.

Zavilla’s keynote address will be accompanied by an audience Q&A, panel discussion on the topic and refreshments.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 day of and can be purchased at Events.CMNM.org/e/longevityproject2025/tickets.
