Shawn Hunter: Remembering Jim Schaffer

Shawn Hunter
CEO, USA Pro Cycling Challenge

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of officer Jim Schaffer. Officer Schaffer served the community of Dillon most recently in support of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, a professional bike race that passed through town Aug. 28. The Dillon Police Department was a tremendous partner and supporter of the inaugural race, and with their support we were able to bring a safe and organized event to the people of Dillon. We are especially saddened at this loss so soon after the safe and successful event the entire state of Colorado joined with Dillon and Summit County in celebrating this past weekend.

In demonstration of our commitment to safety and the support of our community partners, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge will make a donation to Jim’s Junior Badge Fund, and we encourage all cycling fans to express their appreciation for Officer Schaffer.
