SUMMIT COUNTY – In honor of Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, which is June, the Summit County Animal Shelter is offering discounts on the price of adoption for most cats. Normally $85, the price for the month of June is $65 for cats older than 6 months.Some benefits of adopting a cat, according to http://www.americanhumane.org, include: Having a cat fights depression and loneliness; Cats are independent and can be left alone while you’re at work; Cats are comfortable in small spaces like apartments; and Taking care of a cat can help teach a child responsibility and humane values.Cats of all ages, sizes, color and demeanor are available now for adoption at the Summit County Animal Shelter.Weeklong foster care neededThe shelter is currently looking for a weeklong foster home for a mama dog and her 14 puppies. The normal foster parents will be out of town from June 13-20, and since the shelter is under some construction, it will not be able to house them.
