SHS boys soccer match postponed due to wildfire

FARMER’S KORNER ” The 4A Jeffco League boys soccer match between Summit High School and Alameda was postponed on Tuesday by the wildfire that burned nearly 20 acres just yards from the rear of the high school Monday afternoon and evening.

Tuesday’s match was to have been played in the Front Range at Lakewood Memorial Field, but it was called off due to logistical hindrances caused by the fire.

“We can’t get into the school to get our equipment,” SHS coach Peter Shafroth said Tuesday afternoon.

The only other athletic contest scheduled for Tuesday was the cross country team’s meet in Georgetown. The runners competed as scheduled.

A reschedule date for the soccer match has not been announced.
