Silverthorne free community dinner serves hundreds last week

SILVERTHORNE – The free Rotarian community dinner – put on every Tuesday at the Elks Lodge in Silverthorne – had a busy evening Jan 12. It served 333 people (285 adults and 48 children, not counting volunteers that ate after 7 p.m., said dinner spokesman Peter Hannishin in an e-mail.

“We now know that 80 pounds of meat will serve about 350 people,” he said.

According to Hannishin, Chef Chris Rybak of Arapahoe Basin provided an Asian-themed meal. This week, Lord of the Mountain Church is serving dinner and Copper Mountain is cooking the meal.
