Silverthorne Nordic Center open for the season

Daily News staff report

The Silverthorne Nordic Center at the Raven Golf Course at Three Peaks opens today for the season.

Cross country skiers and snow shoe enthusiasts can choose from two courses: The north course and the south course, both open from dawn until dusk for free.

Parking, course maps and course rules are located at the Raven Clubhouse at 2929 North Golden Eagle Rd.

The north course presents more challenging terrain with plenty of changes in elevation. Beginners will be most comfortable on the south course, according to the press release, which is flatter but still offers a variety of twists and turns.

Both routes provide spectacular views and a chance to experience the outdoors either alone or with friends and family.

Dogs are not allowed and the groomed routes are for those with snow shoes and skis only, as regular foot traffic damages the grooming.

For additional details about the Nordic center, visit or call the Silverthorne Recreation Center at (970) 262-7370.
