Silverthorne receives distinguished budget presentation award

Silverthorne finance director Donna Braun and her staff received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for its 2011-12 biennial budget.

It marks the ninth consecutive two-year budget cycle for which Silverthorne has received the award.

Receiving the honor acknowledges the town’s dedication to effective budget presentation. Silverthorne satisfied all the nationally recognized guidelines for creating the document, including being useful for creating policy, as well as a good financial plan, operations guide and communications device.

“All of our financial documents are critical tools we use to chart our financial path, and also to clearly communicate our plans with public,” town manager Kevin Batchelder said in a press release. “The budget is the cornerstone of our financial strategy, and although we have simply come to look forward to Donna and her staff bringing this award home for each budget, in no way does that diminish the significance of this accomplishment.”

The 2011-12 Silverthorne budget is available at and hard copies are available at Town Hall.
