Silverthorne Recruiting for EDAC and Planning Commission Candidates
The Town of Silverthorne is recruiting applicants to fill vacancies on its Economic Development Advisory Committee and Planning Commission. The recruitment for these vacancies are somewhat linked, in that both groups make recommendations to the town council, and can ultimately shape the look and feel of development in Silverthorne. The 11-member Economic Development Advisory Committee was created in 2004 by the council for the purpose of reviewing matters related to economic development, in an attempt to grow and enhance sustainable businesses and town revenues. EDAC also manages ongoing services including business seminars and an annual Business Breakfast for the town. Work plans for 2007 include increased an increased marketing emphasis for the town and additional business retention and outreach efforts. There is one vacancy on EDAC. Candidates should have knowledge and skills that would assist in maintaining a healthy and sustainable economy in the town. The Planning Commission also has one vacancy. With large projects both commercial and residential entering the Planning Commission’s public process, the town is eager to have a fully staffed commission. Interest in riverfront development is also on the rise in Silverthorne, and these projects will come before the Planning Commission for review. To qualify for Planning Commission membership, candidates must live within Silverthorne’s town limits, have been a registered voter in the town for one year prior to appointment and be able to attend evening meetings on the first and third Tuesday’s of the month. To apply for either of these positions, submit a letter of interest and resumé by Feb. 19 to the Town Manager’s Office, P.O. Box 1309, Silverthorne, CO 80498, or e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, call (970)262-7300.
