Silverthorne to consider new church plan tonight

The Silverthorne town council considers the preliminary site plan for the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church proposed to be built in north Silverthorne at its 6 p.m. meeting Wednesday at Town Hall.

The preliminary site plan allows the involved parties to identify the design and scope of the project as well as to keep everyone informed of the circumstances concerning the property, to determine the suitability of the development proposal prior to extensive site planning and to eliminate major design concept problems prior to detailed architectural and engineering plans for the building site, town documents state.

Silverthorne’s planning commission unanimously recommends council approve the preliminary plan with conditions such as addressing town engineer comments, accommodating nearby wetland buffer areas, moving signs and changing the landscape plan to meet town code requirements.

Also at the meeting, the council will enter into executive session to discuss legal matters, including a case between residents and the town concerning the latest proposed segment of the Blue River Trial, an ongoing recpath project.
