SILVERTHORNE – Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse will go before the Silverthorne Town Council tonight, seeking approval of its preliminary plan for a store on the corner of Wildernest Road and Buffalo Mountain Drive. The proposed store and attached garden center would total 138,000 square feet and sit on 11.2 acres at the site of a former auto dealership.

The town’s planning commission, which examines applications strictly as they pertain to land use, approved the plan Thursday. The town council’s purview extends beyond land use to include economic and social factors of development applications.

The meeting will include time for public comments.

“If it’s important to you, come to the meeting and speak,” Mayor Dave Koop said. “Public comment is really valuable.”
