It was a big Saturday for Silverthorne’s Red Gerard at the 2025 Laax Open.

The 2018 Olympic gold medalist started his day on Saturday, Jan. 18, by advancing out of the men’s snowboard slopestyle semifinal before lining up for the 12-man final later in the day.

Wanting to secure his first podium finish of the 2024-25 season, Gerard put together a massive first run in finals to earn a score of 86.22. The score ended up being enough for Gerard to claim the silver medal. Canada’s Cameron Spalding won the gold (86.63) and Germany’s Noah Vicktor finished in third (83.72).

Frisco local Lily Dhawornvej took eighth overall in the women’s snowboard slopestyle final with a top run score of 54.09.
