BRECKENRIDGE – Six citizens are vying for three seats on the Red, White and Blue Fire District board.

A forum to meet the candidates will take place April 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the main fire station at 316 N. Main St. in Breckenridge. The special district election will be held May 7 at the fire station.

Incumbents Eric Franzen, Arch Gothard and Robert Greenly all are in the running to reclaim their seats. Others vying for the seats include Colorado Mountain College’s Emergency Medical Services coordinator Tom “T.R.” Resignolo; Summit County Ambulance Director Sean Caffrey and former Red, White and Blue fire administrative director Teresa Perkins.

The five citizens who sit on the board are responsible for district finances and capital improvements. Current issues they face include growth within the district that extends from the base of Swan Mountain Road to the top of Hoosier Pass and how to adequately provide services to the area. They also are members of the volunteer firefighter’s pension board.

Other issues on the May 7 ballot include a request for a mill levy increase to hire personnel and replace aging equipment and a measure to eliminate term limits for district board members.
