Ski season kickoff event Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

SUMMIT COUNTY – Local skiers and boarders looking to get an idea of what’s up at the county’s four ski areas will get a chance to hear it from the chiefs this week. In place of what used to be the Chamber’s COO breakfast, a 2009-2010 ski season preview event is set for 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Summit County Community and Senior Center.

According to event planner Sandy Briggs from Our Future Summit, the evening will feature light snacks and representatives from Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone and Loveland ski areas.

Ski resort representatives – Arapahoe Basin Ski Area’s vice president and chief operating officer Alan Henceroth, Breckenridge Ski Resort’s director of mountain operations Gary Shimanowitz, Copper Mountain Ski Resort’s president and chief operating officer Gary Rodgers, Keystone Resort’s vice president of mountain operations Doug Lovell and Loveland Ski Area’s director of business operations Rob Goodell – will preview their operations for the upcoming season at the kickoff event.

Topics covered at the kickoff will include: Opening and closing dates; facility and lift upgrades; ongoing projects; season, multi-day and day pass information; special events; ski and snowboard school programs; competition schedules and environmental initiatives. The gathering will also be an opportunity for each resort to raise its profile, screen videos, and distribute new trail maps and other promotional materials.
