Ski Tip haunts Halloween

summit daily news

This Saturday, mystery surrounds the historic Ski Tip Lodge as it hosts its first murder mystery dinner.

Volunteers from the Lake Dillon Theatre Company will spin a tale of a murder that occurs as guests are trapped at the Ski Tip, due to an avalanche that closes the road in both directions. The actors will be seated among the guests, providing hints as to who the real murderer is.

As guests arrive, they will congregate in front of the large stone fireplace for hors d’oeuvres and a couple scenes to set up the mystery. Then, between each course, more will be revealed.

Guests are encouraged to dress up in costume – some of the staff will dress as Hunter S. Thompson, witches, and other peculiar characters.

Menu items include such treats as ghoulish pork and apple goulash soup, witches brew braised rabbit roulade, bacon wrapped phantom pheasant and werewolf caught peppercorn grilled Colorado lamb chop.

“Our chef is going to have fun with the menu,” said assistant manager Bridget Johnson.

Because it’s a new event, the Ski Tip Lodge staff set the dinner at a bargain $55, and it sold out in seven days. However, not all is lost. The staff intends to host a few murder mysteries throughout the winter, most likely January and February, so keep your eye out.
