Skier dies after crash at Park City resort

PARK CITY, Utah ” A 49-year-old skier died after apparently crashing into trees at Park City Mountain Resort, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

Brett Pendleton was unconscious when discovered in trees near the Pay Day run Wednesday. He was wearing a helmet, resort spokeswoman Krista Parry said.

“He was a very accomplished skier and ski racer,” she said. “He could have caught an edge. There were no witnesses.”

Pendleton was pronounced dead at University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.

He volunteered each Tuesday for the resort’s safety patrol. Pendleton also was a hanglider and paraglider, Parry said.
