Skier dies at Arapahoe Basin Wednesday

A 32-year-old skier from Redford Township, Mich., died as a result of injuries sustained in a fall Wednesday at Arapahoe Basin.

Ski patrol was alerted at approximately 3:15 p.m. about an unhelmeted skier that crashed on the Larkspur run. Upon ski patrol arrival, the victim was in cardiac arrest and was flown by Flight For Life to Summit Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased, according to a release from the Summit County Coroner’s Office.

The skier apparently lost control at a high rate of speed and tumbled several times on the run. The cause of death is due to blunt force trauma to the chest.

Larkspur is a blue run.

The victim’s name has not been released.
